MOVE IT OR LOSE IT: HIPS

It’s time to unlock the power of your hips—aka the heroes of movement. From practicing yoga to lifting, or just living life, hip mobility is foundational to how you move, how you feel, and how you age.

Modern life is not hip-friendly—hello, desk chairs, car rides, couch lounging, and static postures. These patterns can create stiffness, limit range, and contribute to everything from low back pain to tricky knees.

In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into how your hips actually move, what might be limiting them, and how to restore functional, feel-good mobility applied to your yoga practice. Expect science-backed drills, practical tools, and plenty of "a-ha" moments you can bring into your yoga practice and everyday life/movement.

We’ll also explore common hip myths in yoga, key pose modifications, and sneaky compensations that might be stealing your mobility without you realising it.

By the end, you'll walk away with the confidence to move more freely, support your hips with strength and control, and integrate mobility work into your practice and daily life.

What We’ll Cover:

  1. Understanding the Hip Joint – Let’s geek out on anatomy and range of motion: what healthy hips should be able to do.

  2. Why Hip Mobility Matters on the Mat – Learn to improve your hip mobility (and flexibility) with simple drills like CARS.

  3. How Your Hips Support Your Practice – From Malasana to Pigeon Pose to Skandasana, we’ll explore hip mechanics and how to safely access depth without compromising stability or joints upstream/downstream (hello, spine and knees). Learn about the relationship between hips and movement.

  4. Precautions – What to watch for in deep hip openers and how to adapt for your unique body structure.
